Here’s what’s happening. You’re splitting. Whether you realize it or not, you have developed a habit of seeing people as being either all bad or all good. No in between. And no realistic sense that people are a combination of traits, some good, some bad, most neutral.
So the moment someone does anything that disgusts, angers, disappoints or frustrates you, they go into the all bad department.
And the more time you spend with a person, the more likely they are to do something you don’t like.
People you barely know, on the other hand, can keep their halos intact.
