Why do I talk so openly about my own mental illnesses?
Whatever you focus on mentally, it grows. In order to hide something, you have to be focused on it. You have to keep figuring out ways to prevent other people from seeing it. You constantly question whether you have been found out. You are probably spending precious emotional energy trying to put up a false face.
It is so much harder to overcome depression, anxiety, addiction, resentment, hallucinations or anything else if you are ashamed.
